LEONA STALKERS

"Seedy Alleyways Normally Lead to Good Food"

Greetings Avid Readers,

2011.06.14

"Ramen Kan
Level 1, 90 Hay St
Haymarket NSW 2000
(02) 9211 6677"

This is what we had:
Lunch A Special - $14.90 each
which is a 'Normal' sized bowl of Ramen with a choice of a side

Steven and I ordered a Lunch A each.
Ramen
standard half egg, shallots and slice of pork

Side (mine)
Kaisen - which is diced sashimi salmon and tuna
with rice base and Japanese mayonnaise

Side (Steven's)
Karaage - which is karaage chicken with
Japanese Mayonnaise and rice base

At anytime I go to Ramen-Kan, the food is normally decent and satisfying in amount as well. The only let down to this place is that you have to search for the tiny opening that leads to a shifty alleyway and finally traveling up a seemingly unreliable elevator with sticky-taped directions to find the actual restaurant. Whilst the journey is painful, the destination is a well lit, cosy and busy restaurant. This conjures a mysterious and secretive ambiance. Plus, you get the view (if I can call it a view) of Paddy's Market. The service is good, rushing to take my order several times before I even made up my mind. Overall good,  but sometimes I wish waiters/waitresses' at these places had better English...The value is comme ci, comme ca (Surprisingly I only learnt what that meant yesterday), I could probably find better Ramen for cheaper somewhere.

LEON-O-METRE:
  • Food:         7 / 10
  • Ambiance:  6 / 10
  • Service:      7 / 10
  • Value:        6  / 10
Anyway, that's all for now.
Keep Reading. Continue Enjoying.
Love Leona
