"Easier to just get Evia"

Greetings Avid Readers,

2010.12.23

"Evia Yoghurt Bar
Kiosk 30
Ground Floor
Hurstville Westfield"
Thai Salad and Pesto Linguine @ $5.96

That's right, I starved all the way home just to take a good photo for you in front of the Christmas presents.

The shop was owned by Asians, and they were luring me into trying the 'Chinese crispy noodles with beef'. Paaa-lease! Don't joke with me. Does my ABC face look like I want to eat Chinese?

Anyway, I ordered half "Pesto Linguine" and a Thai Inspired lime beef salad. There were different sized containers to choose from ranging from small, medium, large to extra large.

Might I add, the advertising is poorly communicated and quite tricky. Being quite ditzy and not very observant, I immediately thought "ah! how great of value, it is $5 for a jam packed squished to the top, mountain of a lunch". No.

NOTE TO SELF:

$5.98 does not mean you can only look at the first digit and assume it's great. As soon as the Asian man said "six dollars please", I argued "but I thought it was only fi-- Oh". How did they even get to the second decimal place...They totally scammed me.

Though, I must admit their food was pretty good. I will go there again. The value originally was okay for the quality of it. I mean, $6 will buy you an average lunch...most likely fast-food.

But $6 spent in a good quality lunch that is also healthy, where you actually see them making it. Not very easy to find. Although I would have given this a higher rating in value, I recently found out that at Broadway, the Coles supermarket has a self-serve salad bar for $15 per kg.

Using a container the size of Evia's "medium" above, I self-served half pumpkin couscous with a layer of mushrooms, then filled the top with Tabbouleh (did not compress the salad). I weighed it, and it was 0.200+ kg which cost me around $3 something. So comparing this with Broadway, the rating for this must go down unfortunately.

LEON-O-METRE:
  • Food:          7 / 10
  • Ambiance:   (It is a typical Kiosk Bar)
  • Service:       7 / 10
  • Value:         6  / 10
That's all for now,
Keep Reading. Continue Enjoying.
Love Leona
